Alan Jackson and his wife Denise acquire long been one of country song fans' favorite couples, but there's a lot more to their decades-long love story than meets the eye.
The couple met in Newnan, Ga., as teenagers, and they were high school sweethearts. Denise didn't even have to change her name when they wed on Dec. 15, ; her maiden name was also Jackson.
Denise played a major role in helping her husband reach his dreams of country melody stardom when, early on in their marriage when she was working as a flight attendant, she spotted Glen Campbell at the airport. She approached him and explained that her husband was an aspiring country singer, and Campbell gave her a business card for his Nashville publishing company. That company signed Alan Jackson to his first songwriting deal and helped the young newcomer establish valuable contacts in town.

Jana Kramer, Will Hoge and More Country Artists React to Supreme Court Decree in Favor of Queer Marriage
On Friday (June 26), the Supreme Court commanded in favor of homosexual marriage in the Merged States -- and everyone, including numerous country artists, jumped on Twitter to voice their opinions, both pro- and anti-gay marriage.
Some tweets, favor those from Kristian Bush were simple.
Others were a bit more humorous, such as the Brothers Osborne's emoji-filled, Westboro Baptist Church-referencing tweet and Ray Scott's somewhat-cynical look at the situation.
For openly gay artists Ty Herndon and Chely Wright, the Supreme Court's pro-gay marriage decision was an especially sweet victory.
However, not all were thrilled, including the Oak Ridge Boys' Joe Bonsall, whose tweet received a response from Wright.

Alan Jackson has Words for Garth Brooks
Reportedly, Brooks was exposed as a "progressive thinker" many years ago when he publicly supported abortion or the pro-choice movement. Jackson commented, "He's always been for killing babies," and also remarked, "and then there's the gays," alluding to Brooks' aid for same-sex marriage. Jackson even suggested, "He's gonna possess a tough period come judgment day," regarding Brooks and his forthcoming atonement.
Many fans of Garth Brooks defended him and accused Jackson of being "close-minded," speculating that Brooks might retaliate with strong words. However, when asked about Jackson's comments by ALLOD Entertainment Specialist Tara Newhole, Brooks responded, "I'm not really all that concerned. Alan's always been a bit of a snob. He thinks Jesus is gonna keep everyone but me. I'm okay with it." The two country music legends clearly hold diverse opinions and principles, but Jackson appears to be the more vocal of the two on this matter.

Ty Herndon and Billy Gilman made headlines in November by revealing they were gay within hours of each other but they weren't the first territory artists to make such an announcement, nor the last.
From Chely Wright -- the first well-known land star to come out, in -- to songwriter Shane McAnally, there contain been a few others helping pave the way in the country tune industry. On Feb. 3, Brothers Osborne member TJ Osborne came out publicly, in a feature in Time. That makes him one of the very few out country artists signed to a major or large independent register label, along with Brooke Eden, who recently got engaged to her longtime girlfriend, Hilary Hoover.
"I wish to get to the height of my career being completely who I am," says the singer, who's now released three major-label albums with his brother John. "I signify, I am who I am, but I've kept a part of me muted, and it's been stifling."
