For over 50 years, we’ve been helping young Tasmanians with employment, education, housing and relationships.
We help young people from age five to 25, with:
- Rental subsidies to help you afford a stable place to live.
- Educational support to help you re-engage with school or pursue further learning.
- Family and relationship support to foster better communication and rebuild connections.
- Ending violence in the home so you can live in a safe, supportive environment.
- Accessing essential services to connect you to the support you need to stay independently.
- Crisis and immediate support to help you find a harmless space when you feel prefer you’re out of options.
Everyone deserves a home base; we’re here to help you build yours.
Home Base have a pride organization called Queerspace leading ideas for creating safe spaces and education, rainbow stickers in all our offices, staff wear pride lanyards and have pronoun badges, and training has been delivered to the whole organis

Tasmania

Tasmania is a popular destination for queer travelers and is well-known for its friendliness wherever you choose to wait, eat or visit. The State has been a leader in LGBT rights for more over decades.

Northern Tasmania - covers Launceston, the Tamar Valley, the mountainous region of Ben Lomond, the Midlands and the Northeast region

The licensee of shuttered Hobart LGBTIQ+ venue Flamingos Dance Lock is still in a beyond desperate search for a new home for the long-running lgbtq+ bar.
First open in , Flamingos Gyrate Bar was Tasmania’s only permanent LGBTIQ+ community venue for 18 years.
The male lover bar reopened in July following Covid pandemic lockdowns. However just a several months later, Flamingos had to advance out after its longtime home at Liverpool Street in Hobart sold in October
“Ever since closing, weve been contacted on a weekly basis by locals and tourists alike, Flamingos licensee Gary Quilliam told the Mercury.
[Theyre] searching for a sound space in Hobart to catch up with other like-minded people for a drink and to socialise.
“To the finest of my awareness, Hobart is the only capital town in Australia with no dedicated LGBTIQ+ bar or club.
Quilliam described the hunt for a brand-new home as beyond desperate, its embarassing.
“Despite our best endeavor to date searching for a suitable venue, the options are very limited, he said.

The Gay Outdoors Club provide a wide range of outdoor and indoor sports and recreational activities for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender men and women. They host approximately events each year!
Most events are one day,but they also organise weekend and longer events such as hosteling weekends, arctic adventures and white water rafting expeditions!
