When we heard that Hung is a common Taiwanese surname, we knew that this was a country worth visiting!

The capital city of Taipei threw us for a fabulously gay loop. We had heard that it was, by Asian standards, a liberal and tolerant place, but we had no idea just how much the capital loves its gay. Within minutes of descending onto the gay scene, we were doused in glitter and dancing under disco lights to the likes of Cher and Dolly Parton. The gay scene in Ximen is damn impressive! There's an entire area around the Red House with tons of gay bars to review out. This is one of many reasons why we rate Taipei as one of the world's top gay travel spots.

There are many fascinating places to discover in Taiwan and queer travellers should sense positive about travelling all around. Taiwanese people are among the most accepting and friendly folks around and would never want to make visitors to their country perceive unwelcome. Mostly they just don’t concern about sexuality.

Of course, as with most places, attitudes are less progressive in more rural areas so travellers who are looking for more of a buzzing scene should head to the bigger cities rather than the countryside.

Taipei, as the capital, naturally has the biggest gay scene with a diverse gaybourhood and the aforementioned Pride. This is where male lover travellers who fancy to be out in the uncover will feel most at home. Other big cities, namely Taichung and Kaohsiung, might not touch quite as liberal but still hold fun LGBT scenes.

Once travellers start heading to other cities, like Tainan, they will find much less on offer in the form of flamb
